In Petrograd’s embrace,

tantalized, I lose my place,

the queue is long but

strangely

I don’t care.

At peace, I look up,

staring at the sky.

I fall asleep.

Beautiful, detached sleep,

life in another realm.

Poking me with a stick,

they accuse me of falling off the wagon.

“Wagon?” I reply,

“What freaking wagon? I’m from Siberia.”

As I pace in my cell,

forwards and backwards,

I consider,

imagining myself somewhere and someone

else.

Imagine… Like an American.

Way of life.

Today.

Planet Earth.

Some women give birth.

Progress.

Glacial.

Nonetheless, progress.

If I had a therapist,

they would be impressed.

I have a dream,

expansive,

enlightening,

beyond the parameters of usual communication.

It’s something like…

The Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria…

Imagine,

such a voyage of discovery,

futurity

and immensity…

(Open your mind,

let yourself go,

sail beyond the horizon…)

Such implications for humanity!
